UK's QinetiQ is eyeing acquisitions in US defence market

The US market for homeland security technologies never seems out of favour.  QinetiQ, a spinout of the UK government and now a defence contractor funded in part by Carlyle Group, said today "it was eyeing more acquisitions in the US after seeing a surge in demand for a bomb disposal robot used by the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan," according to The Times.  (The UK Government still owns a 19% stake in Qinetiq)

It's not hard to see why, after QinetiQ's revenues in the US are up by nearly 18 per cent in the year to March 31 after they've made five investments there last year alone.  Almost forty percent of their revenue already comes from the US.  The CEO of QinetiQ, Mr. Love, said "Total revenues rose 19 per cent to £1.37 billion, with nearly £550 million...the group's aim was to generate half its sales from the other side of the Atlantic."
